The Buffalo Central Terminal has just released its version of Pharrell Williams’ HAPPY. Filmed on May 22nd in two shifts, over 300 Western New Yorkers took part in its production.
The video goes hand-in-hand with a fundraising effort (adopt-a-tile-program, replica sconces, etc.) that can be visited by clicking here.

“Our concept was to show the Terminal as a place for everyone no matter how old or what their backgrounds may be. It is the people’s building as well as a National Landmark and the video fits nicely with the reuse plan for the Arts and education. The original concept was developed via email with a friend in the UK which shows its interest by others beyond Western New York borders. At the end Paragon has added a link to the Terminal’s website in case anyone wishes to become a Member or contribute to its restoration.” said Marilyn Rodgers of MRodgers-Solutions.
Of the 300 participants, some of the dancers dressed up in ethnic garb (above), while other people wore outfits resembling period dress from the terminal’s heyday (below – image is from the CTRC).
Paragon Advertising filmed ground shots and produced the video. BuffaloSkyCam performed aerial shots and Kerrykate Abel-Smith provided choreography. Other Buffalo-based businesses and individuals contributed to the filming with in-kind services, as well, and are listed in the credits at the end of the video.
