I’m a sucker for horror movies. Ever since I was a little kid, first catching the series Kolchak: The Night Stalker and then the film Salem’s Lot after that, I found that getting spirited away to a scarier world was a whole lot of fun.
There was something about the shows and the movies that had a grip on me. I would peer out from under my blanket at the TV, with one eye open and one hand over that eye, opening and closing my fingers to let in as little or as much as was necessary. Sometimes I would avert my eyes completely and imagine what was going on… the suspense killing me as I would wait for a climactic sound and then squint to blur the screen. It was pure agony, but exhilarating at the same time.
Whenever I come across a bunch of Buffalo filmmakers who are looking to fund a horror flick (or any flick for that matter), I try to give them a shout out. The other day I discovered a feature length film that is looking for crowd funding. It’s called Dwelling. The story is about a woman who actually wants to find a haunted house to live in. Apparently she’s looking to connect with the spirits of the house for personal reasons. So she finds the perfect haunted house, and moves in. From there everything unravels… and I would think that’s just about the time when buyer’s remorse sets in, no? Here’s the trailer:
At this point, the film is half funded, with a total goal of $12,000 needed. If you look at the film’s cast, you will notice a healthy mix of locals and non-locals. Cast members include Buffalonian Josie DiVincenzo, and the film’s stars Erin Marie Hogan and Devanny Pinn.
You can learn all about the production of the movie by watching the Kickstarter pitch below. Then, once you decide that this film is worth supporting, you can sit back and wait for quality horror flick to come to fruition. Funding must be met by Sun, Jun 29 2014 9:02 PM EDT.
“Dwelling” will be our first feature length film. In order to make this film happen and have the funds to sustain ourselves in filmmaking, we need for this project to meet its goal. If this project gets funded we will be filming in July 2014, and selling this film to a distribution company. From there we can have a budget to keep making films and not rely on crowd funding anymore. – BeWILdered Media Productions LLC (FB)
