The Buffalo Saturday Artisan Market Kick Off!

On Saturday, May 17, 2014, the Buffalo Saturday Artisan Market (SAM) kicks off for another summer season down at Canalside. Remember this post from 2011, when we were just starting to identify the feasibility of the market? At that point the market was just a dream. Today it is a successful reality that gives artists and artisans a place to display and sell their works on the waterfront. It is these types of initiatives that lends a permanence to the Inner Harbor – an event series that visitors can look forward to year after year. Now in its third season, SAM is scheduled to appear eleven Saturdays throughout the summer, starting this weekend.

An unexpected surprise is the scheduling of incredible live music that goes hand-in-hand with SAM, featuring different music acts throughout the day (see below for example).

The Market is scheduled for 10am through 5pm on the following dates:

· May 17
· June 7
· June 21
· July 5
· July 19
· August 2
· August 9
· September 6
· September 20
· October 4
· October 18

On each of those days, 30 artists and artisans will set up at the Central Wharf to showcase a world of glass, pottery, fiber arts, stationery, woodcrafts, purses, garden art, soaps, jewelry, candles, and beyond.

Participating in the May 17 event are:

Leatherbarrow Glass, Aremel Soaps, Goldhawk Pottery, The Little Bag Boutique, Lizard Breath Beads, Buffalo Enterprise, Medicine Man Guitars, Just Beachy, Lily Kat Designs, Creekside Art & Pottery. Ginametrical. Buffalo Etchings, Vegetabowls, Anything Art Co., Rusty Button Studio, Indie Twenty, Simplesong Studio, G Lee Jewelry, Bridgette ni Brian, Glassworks by Design, Buffalo History Buff, Willow Designs, Artyard Studio, Kat’s Kreations, Creative Copper Wire, Allori Designs, Sunrae Love Jewelry, Wishes & Dreams, and the “Betty Crockski” food truck

Live entertainment is also part of the Buffalo Saturday Artisan Market experience and each week features a variety of musical acts and other performances. The May 17 lineup will feature:
