Anyone can enter – there is no judging of gardens, no garden criteria, no costs, no fees. No one will even stop by to review your garden.
We accept gardens “in progress,” first-year gardens, just front yard gardens – your garden is fine. If you’ve ever been on the tour, you know what makes it unique is the eclectic mix of gardens, artwork, architecture, great neighborhoods, and friendly people.
Garden Walk is NOT a contest. There are no entry fees, no costs involved. All you have to do is fill out an application and get gardening!
Just two criteria…
- Gardens must be from the boundaries of the Walk, specifically, within the boundaries of the Niagara River to Main Street and the Erie Basin Marina to the Scajaquada Expressway.
- You must let us know that there will be no sales of items at your garden.
In the past, Garden all has had as many as 385 gardens. For our 20th anniversary we’d love to break 400! Please help us make this year our best ever.
Garden Walk participants are treated to two parties a year, one in June to pick up your free maps, posters and garden signs. There is also a follow-up Thank You Party in the Fall. Special discounts are given by sponsoring garden centers. This year, free marble and granite scraps will be available to Garden Walk gardeners to do something creative in their gardens – and a chance to win a $500 gift certificate for a marble or granite countertop project in your home.
Garden Walk Buffalo is a free, self-guided tour of nearly 400 Buffalo gardens, the largest garden tour in America. Held annually on the last weekend of July, in 2014 it will be Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27 from 10 am to 4 pm. Garden Walk has a $4.5 million economic impact each year, with up to as many as 24% of visitors coming from outside the region.
