Big Ditch Brewing Company’s brewing equipment for its new operation under construction at 55 East Huron Street is being delivered today. The brewing equipment will include a 20 barrel (620 gallon) brewhouse and five 40 barrel (1240 gallon) stainless steel fermenters that, once installed, will be visible through new windows being added to the Huron Street side of the building.
The delivery and subsequent installation of the brewing equipment will mark an important milestone in the project.
“The installation of the equipment that we will use to brew our beer is an exciting step in what has been an extensive planning process,” says Matt Kahn, co-founder of Big Ditch Brewing Company.
“With the equipment in place, we expect to begin brewing in July and have our beer on draft in bars, restaurants, and retailers by the end of August,” he added.
Big Ditch will also have an on-premise tap room which is targeted for opening this fall.
Big Ditch Brewing Company was founded by local residents Matt Kahn, Corey Catalano and Wes Froebel. The brewery name pays homage to the Erie Canal which was nicknamed “Big Ditch” during its early construction. It is leasing its space from Iskalo Development.
