In celebration of Buffalo Bike month, Lafayette Presbyterian Church (Lafayette and Elmwood) will be hosting a “Blessing of the Bicycles” this Sunday, May 18, at 11am. It will be followed by a group ride to the waterfront.
Bicycles and riders of every size, shape, and belief will be welcomed into the church building for some brief prayers and a blessing pronounced over each bike. As the church is under construction, please enter the church via the glass doors on Lafayette Avenue.
This blessing immediately follows our 10 am worship service. You are more than welcome to bike to the 10 am service and stay for the blessing, or arrive at 11 am for the blessing only. While I am confident that our prayers can, and do, make a difference, I still encourage all bicyclists to wear helmets, and for bikers and drivers alike to show respect and follow the rules of the road.
