On Sunday May 18, 2014, friends, family and fans of artist, musician, playwright, friend and father Phil Durgan will come together to celebrate his life (see background). The memorial is intended to pay tribute to the man who surrounded himself with art and music, and those who embodied the arts in Buffalo. It’s also a rallying cry for Phil’s kids.
On that Sunday, Phil’s art will be displayed, in tandem with live jazz and musical/spoken word performances. Hosted by Buffalo actor Dave Lundy, with the help of the local arts community, the celebration is intended to raise funds for Phil’s two children – there will be t-shirts for sale (featuring artwork by Phil), as well as donations taken at the door and a cash bar. All profits will go to Phil’s family. The celebration is open to the community.
