With so many commercial shopping districts to choose from, it’s always good to remember that there are some incredible retail destinations located in and around our various residential neighborhoods. Joe Incao, the Director of Retail at the Martin House, is on a mission to put the Martin House Museum Store on the collective minds of Buffalo shoppers. As we get ready for the spring and summer gift-giving seasons (including weddings, anniversaries, birthdays), we should be thinking of the Museum store as one of the best gift shops in the area – not to mention that it goes hand-in-hand with one of this city’s biggest success stories.
“Yes, we are quietly tucked away in the Carriage House of the Darwin Martin House on Jewett Parkway,” said Incao. “But we are not just the shop at the end of the tour. Since I joined the Martin House in November I have been working at rounding out an already well established collection of goods. The Martin House is the number one tourist destination in Western New York, so we have plenty of foot traffic coming through the store, but I still think we are bit of a secret to local Buffalonians.”
While there is a good representation of Frank Lloyd Wright inspired goods in the store, there is something for everyone in the shop’s inventory, from gifts for the kids to gadgets for guys. And the big plus with shopping at the Museum Store is that not only are you supporting our local small business retail economy, you’re also helping to support the ongoing restoration efforts at the Martin House. Now how cool is that?
Please come by and take a look. And remember, you don’t need to take a tour to shop.
