Selective demolition is underway at D’Youville College’s new 85,000 square foot Art, Sciences and Education building. The $20 million building at 606 Niagara Street, the former site of Gateway-Longview, is scheduled to open for classes in August 2015.
The new facility will house health care and computer laboratories, “smart” classrooms, and faculty offices. An existing 50 car parking lot located behind the building on Prospect Avenue will be retained for student, faculty, and staff use.
A 25,000 square foot structure that was built in 1928 bordering Jersey Street is being incorporated into the new complex. The new building will feature a small café area in the atrium accessible from the parking lot.
Uniland Development has been retained by D’Youville to provide a ‘Design-Build’ process for the planning and construction of the building . The team for the project includes Stieglitz Snyder Architecture of Buffalo and M/E Engineering.
