Just Buffalo Literary Center has announced the author line-up for its 2014/2015 season.
The series brings 4 internationally important, Nobel, Pulitzer and other award-winning, authors to Buffalo each year for a lecture as well as a Q&A session with the crowd afterwards moderated by Barbara Cole, Just Buffalo Literary Center’s artistic director.
The obvious highlight this year most people will recognize is the inclusion of American poet and musician Patti Smith, speaking about her featured memoir Just Kids, which documented Smith’s relationship with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
Also interesting is the inclusion of Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, recipient of a MacArthur “genius” grant and author of acclaimed book Americanah. Her book has been named one of The New York Times Ten Best Books of the Year and explores love and political changes in Nigeria.
All 4 events will be held at Kleinhan’s Music Hall and community members are encouraged to read the books, available at Talking Leaves Book and The Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries. BABEL offers facilitated group meetings at Betty’s shortly before each lecture.
Early Bird ticket subscription ticket pricing continues through May 15 with General Admission Subscriptions to the four events at $95 each or $175 for a pair. Patron Subscription, $250 for a single person or $475 for a pair, includes the four events, catered author receptions and reserved seating.
Both subscriptions are available online at justbuffalo.org or by phone (716) 832-5400.
