Most Buffalo running races are held along streets such as Elmwood or Delaware. A few are held in Delaware Park, and a number have popped up along the waterfront. There is only one that traverses the West Side of the city, through city streets and neighborhoods, offering an unusual glimpse into one of the most diverse and rebounding areas of Buffalo – it’s called Run Along Jericho Road. “We hope to draw even more people to the West Side and bring visibility to all the wonderful things happening here,” said Nicholas Kaczmarek, Events Planner & Graphic Designer for Jericho Road Community Health Center.
The family wellness event is open to everyone – walkers, runners and stroller-pushers alike (kids 12 and under can participate for free, with adult supervision). Participants can either walk/run solo or get a team together. The effort is designed to raise funds for Jericho Road Community Health Center, a West Side organization that helps refugees and low income residents to navigate Buffalo and the healthcare system.
