This past Saturday, Buffalo booster Laird Robertson attended The Valley’s ‘Old Neighborhood’ Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, and while he was there he managed to come away with an unusual perspective of the event. Taken from high above, Laird was able to focus in on some of the floats and the participants in a way that certainly sums up the electricity in the air and on the gound.
I’ve been going to the Saturday parade for years. It’s an experience that everyone should try at least once. Of course the crowds are smaller than the Sunday parade, which makes it more intimate, but did you know that “Over 100 marching units participed this year,” according to The Valley Community Center. “Making the “Old Neighborhood” St. Patrick’s Day Parade just as large as the downtown edition! Marching contingents included marching bands, local businesses, community floats, social clubs, bag pipers, classic cars, Irish dancers, family clans, sports groups, fire and police departments, among others.”
“I shot a unique perspective on the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade over the weekend. I used a GoPro attached to a extendable pole to get the view. This was my first time attending the Old First Ward parade, what a great time it was. Has a way different feel to it than the one up Delaware, which I did shoot yesterday.” – W. Laird Robertson
