A rather unusual gym called Hybrid Fitness is opening in Downtown Buffalo later this month, in a large space behind SeaBar on Ellicott Street. Owner Pat Hall is branding it as a unique boot camp, partially fashioned from his experiences on the TV show American Ninja Warrior (he will be appearing on the show soon), as well as his experiences owning/operating gyms in the past. Touted as a completely different style of gym, [There are] “…no treadmills or other traditional mechanisms per se.” Pat is focusing more on high intensity New York City style boot camp classes. Think Crossfit meets Parkour Method. The gym will feature a massive warped wall, spiderwebs to climb, and a large flat screen TV in the lobby that will only be playing the movie Fight Club.
Hell yeah… I think we just found our “Rocky” of Buffalo…
Seeing that this is not your typical gym, don’t expect to walk in and see stair-climbers and rowing machines. Rather you will be faced by your biggest opponent… yourself. This is a class-based gym for people of all ages and abilities. The classes are designed around your strengths and weaknesses. Many of the workouts are completely unfamiliar to those who are accustomed to attending typical gyms – these workouts are creative, fun, and most importantly, result-based.
Opening weekend features three days of free sample sessions for anyone who is curious about the gym’s routines, starting with:
The gym will be opening on Friday, March 28th. There will be a huge party from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, with a live DJ, drinks, and catered food.
Saturday afternoon Hybrid will be hosting a free 90 minute high intensity workout (starts at 11am).
Finally, on Sunday, the gym will have a “Make Em Say OM” Yoga + Brunch Party, featuring a 75 minute sweaty flow class, followed by mimosas and a vegan menu. Check for start time on Facebook.
