As if out of the blue, one of the city’s most beloved and longstanding bakeries has opened a second location in Downtown Buffalo.
The South Park bakery has been serving Buffalonians since 1933 and under new ownership (see here), the rolling pins are turning and the dough is rising. Yes, the sweet smell of pastry goods and coffee has finally arrived inside the lobby of the Market Arcade Building! A great assortment of donuts, éclairs, cookies, and a selection of self- service coffee is available to choose from, and soon, fresh baked bread and even more goodies will be brought in.
Owners, Ty and Nick are excited to have a presence in downtown and the opportunity to expand the Mazurek’s’ brand.
In a day and age, when old world bakeries are few and far between, and there’s a Tim Horton’s on every corner, it’s refreshing to see a small resurgence of small Buffalo bakeries reclaiming the neighborhoods where they once thrived.
The bakery is testing out its hours of operation and will most likely set a permanent schedule once the 600 block of Main Street is open to traffic this spring. In the meantime, the more we all support this welcome downtown business, the more they will do to make sure that they accommodate the demands.
For those health conscious folks, they have gluten free treats too!
This is also good news for the Market Arcade, and could help to jumpstart needed foot traffic in the building.
