How to reuse grain silos: Create dwellings out of shipping containers

Here’s to rethinking the box in Johannesburg where one developer has taken a number of needs and whipped them together to create supply. A need for student housing. A need to modify existing buildings. And a need to reuse an excess supply of shipping containers.

In the end, the idea was to stack the shipping containers on top of the grain elevators in order to offer hip dwellings for students, that include WiFi and rooftop decks.

You can see the entire plan on Gizmodo, and a bunch of fascinating photos as well.
