Dress For Success hosts inaugural gala at the Buffalo Transportation Pierce Arrow Museum

If you’ve been out of the job market for a while, it can be tough motivating yourself to get back in it. Once you’ve dusted off the resume and lined up your interviews, there’s always the question: “What am I going to wear to my interviews?” Thankfully, that question has been address for women with social and economic needs, who can’t afford a new professional wardrobe, especially if they’re out of work.

Dress for Success is a non-profit organization that helps women to prepare for the interview process by providing them with the proper business attire and crucial know-how tips that will give them the added confidence that they need to make the ever-important first impression.

In order to help raise needed funds for the cause, Dress for Success is heading up an inaugural fundraising gala called Going Places that is designed to take the message even further. “The Going Places event gives Dress for Success the opportunity to make Buffalo aware of what we’re all about and how we assist women in our Community,” said Rosemary Dudek, Co-founder of the organization. “Besides helping individuals to strive, it’s all about helping them to thrive. We are committed to making a difference for women in Western NY.”

The Women Served…
-Are single mothers (70%), raising an average of 2-3 children.
-Represent all ethnicities and races/Have Lived under the poverty level prior to receiving Dress for Success’s services.
-Range in age from 18-60, with the majority aged 18-38.

“We are very excited and honored to be joining DFS in their one year anniversary and in celebrating the success each woman involved in this program has achieved,” said Bob Lamastra, President of Mercedes-Benz of Buffalo. “It is a testament to the hard work and caring nature of the DFS board members and volunteers. We hope people will attend the Gala and see what these amazing women have done and continue to do.”
