You might be wondering how A&E’s newest reality show, Wahlburgers, is tied to Buffalo. That might be a better question for Sean Macaluso, Founder and CEO of The Mac Groups to answer. You see, Sean has been pounding the social media pavement in Buffalo for years. Over time, he has built up an admirable portfolio of businesses that he works with in order to ensure that their social media presence is over the top. Professional relationships with The Sabres and The Bandits, and myriad local businesses that include The Blue Monk and Anderson’s, has helped Sean to land clients from out of town – most notably the Wahlberg family.
In preparation for the launch of the new reality show, one of The Mac Groups responsibilities is to ensure that everything runs smoothly in the realm of social media leading up to the launch of the show. According to Sean, maintaining tight control over what is released to the public is key. The fact that the Wahlbergs are opening the doors of their restaurant to millions of A&E viewers, as well as online fans, means that Sean and his team are on the ground running, tracking the happenings at the Massachusetts restaurant in order to keep up with the social media blitz that has already begun. “I think people are really intrigued by the brothers and their everyday life,” Sean said. “It shows behind the scenes for restaurants, and I think that’s something that really hasn’t been exposed before, at least not in successful ones [reality TV shows]. The Mac Groups is excited for the rest of the world to meet the family they have come to know and work with.”
I asked Sean what it took to get the Wahlbergs as a client, and he passed along the recipe for the success – being extremely persistent in order to prove himself to the family. Eventually they were impressed enough to give him the job. Now that’s what I’m talking about Buffalo.
