From learning how to cook healthy meals in a modern kitchen classroom setting, to the teachings of qigong and yoga nidra, and disciplines of Cheng Man Ching style T’ai Chi Ch’uan, The Complete Wellness Arts and Science Center (CWASC) is a place of learning and healing for those with open minds and soaring spirits. Rarely do you find all of these practices, including Eastern medicine, and healing practitioners dedicated to the arts of science and nature, under one roof. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Jin Shin Jyutsu Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Soul Coaching, Wellness Programs, Light Therapy, Harisa Ayurvedic Wellness and Massage Therapy are just a few of the offerings that CWASC specializes in.
Just as important to the mission of CWASC is a series of new classes that are aimed at promoting wellness. Recently the center underwent a series of renovations that now allows them to invite guest teachers and coaches to establish their own programming. Cooking, Qigong, T’ai Chi, and Yoga are new to the facility, and are taking on a life of their own. The addition of a modern teaching kitchen (counter-side seating for 12 and table seating for 20) and new classrooms (for classes, workshops and events) have enabled CWASC to move forward with programming that includes cooking lessons and demonstrations from local chefs, along with creating recipes designed to help heal those suffering from diseases and ailments such as cancer and autism. “This beautiful kitchen offers an intimate setting for a more integrative and empowering experience,” said instructor Kathy Venezia. “Here is where folks can enjoy the interaction and connection with healthy foods and lifestyle in a like minded community.”
Cooking programming in the Health Essentials Culinary and Event Center is available for team building exercises and for people who are looking for ways to cook seasonal foods and source local farm-to-table options. A couple of feature chefs heading up the classes include (see schedule):
Certified Health Coach Kathy Venezia: Reboot for a Healthier 2014
Chef Charles “Chaz” LaGreca: Valentine’s Day Healthy Dinner: Food is Love
Ongoing classes open to the public currently include: Wednesday morning and Thursday evening Qigong classes with in-house Qigong instructor and Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner, John Davis; Monday evening Cheng Man-ch’ing style T’ai Chi Ch’uan classes with martial arts master and cancer survivor, Dave Saj; and a variety of Gentle, Restorative, Deep Relaxation, and Partner Yoga classes with Yogini Nicole Petroff. The center also offers monthly Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) workshops hosted by in-house practitioner Terri Songbird Phillips and The Whitten Method workshops and demos with master clinical kinesiologists Dr. Hesu Whitten.
