Speaking of getting people motivated to get outdoors engaged in activities over the winter, this Saturday is the Annual Ice Man 2-Mile Run. The race picked up major steam last year and is proving to be one of the funnest winter running races in Buffalo. As part of Olmsted’s Flurrious! winter festival, the Ice Man is essentially the kick off for the family friendly day-long event that takes place at Delaware Park (around the Parkside Lodge). Here’s a message from the organizers who want everybody to come out and join in on the fun:
The Annual Ice Man 2-Mile Run takes place this Saturday at 10am during the Annual Flurrious! Festival at Delaware Park. The Ice-Man continues to be an off-season focal point for many runners testing their winter fitness on a fun and fast 2-mile course. Delaware Park’s Ring Road is a staple for the running community and Flurrious! continues to draw attendees to a thrilling day of outdoor activities for all ages. A USATF certified 2-Mile course promises a challenge for all. Run it, walk it or come to cheer on hundreds of runners and celebrate winter at Flurrious! A fun post-race party featuring DJ entertainment, great running door prizes and lunch at the Flurrious! main tent. Snow, Ice, Cold we run! Registration and # pickup opens at 8:30am at the Parkside Lodge. Race start 10am near Soldier’s statue. Pre-registration and race-day entry welcome! The Ice -Man helps support the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy.
