Have you ever thought about being on the Garden Walk. I don’t mean walking around and checking out all of the gardens, I mean signing up to feature your own garden on the walk. Maybe you have a garden that is worthy of the walk, and you want to show off your gardening ability, and your neighborhood at the same time? By doing so, you would be adding to the excitement of the walk, and contributing to the overall mission – Buffalo is known throughout the country for having one of the most formidable garden walks to be reckoned with (and we like it that way).
If you are interested in entering your garden into the walk, then there are a couple of requirements that you should be aware of. First, your garden must be located within the footprint of the walk – Niagara River to Main Street and the Erie Basin Marina to the Scajaquada Expressway. If you are not within those boundaries, then know that there are other garden walks that might encompass your neighborhood. Second, you can’t use your Garden Walk status to sell tchotchkes. No yard sales, or garage sales, plant or art sales. Other than that, you’re good to go.
*Garden Walk Buffalo is a free, self-guided tour of more than 380 Buffalo gardens, the largest garden tour in America. Held annually on the last weekend of July, in 2014 it will be Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27 from 10 am to 4 pm. Applications are taken from mid-February until mid-May. Applications will be available online mid-February. See website for details.
