In a world full of dietary restrictions, catering to a vegan or gluten-free crowd is no longer just an afterthought, it can also be a good business decision. From eateries to bakeries, many menus now reflect the tastes of a diverse customer profile, a trend that can help to create a fiercely loyal clientele.
One Black Rock business that is going out of its way to develop recipes for its diet-restricted customers is Delish! Cooking School and Pastry Shop on Amherst Street. “After 2 years of recipe research, trial and error we have finally developed a diet sensitive product line that we’re proud to put the Delish! name on,” said chef/owner Deborah Clark. “You no longer need to suffer through cardboard cookies and flavorless sweets to have a Delish! quality special treat that meets your dietary needs. Delish is pleased to be introducing a new line of sumptuous small batch gluten “friendly”* and vegan baked goods, donuts and prepared foods to eat in or take home. I’m calling the Gluten Free line “Gluten Friendly”.
Delish! will be hosting an Open House new product tasting on Saturday January 25th from 2-4pm to try all of their new products. The bakery is looking for feedback from the public on its new line of baked goods and food. This is just the start of a new way of life for the bakery, after listening to its customers and their needs.
