Association for Preservation Technology Selects Buffalo for 2018 Annual Conference

Buffalo’s reputation for preservation efforts has been rewarded by being selected as host of the 2018 Preservation Technology International conference.

“APT Buffalo Niagara 2018” will be the 50th anniversary annual conference for The Association for Preservation Technology International (APT), an organization dedicated to promoting the best technology for conserving historic structures and their settings.

Flynn Battaglia Architects’ LaLuce Mitchell, LEED AP BD+C and Barbara A.  Campagna, FAIA LEED AP BD+C worked hard to put together last fall’s presentation to convince the Board to bring the conference to our border city.  APT members from over 30 different countries are expected to attend.

Buffalo is home to major architectural works from each of America’s greatest architects from the end of the 19th century – Frank Lloyd Wright, H.H. Richardson, and Louis Sullivan.  Each of their National Historic Landmark masterpieces has been fully restored or is currently undergoing a major restoration.

The 2014 APT conference will be held in Quebec City October 26-30.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
