A local developer is planning to renovate a long-vacant Tracy Street residential property. Adam Backus, president of Superior Management Services, is seeking Buffalo Preservation Board approval on Thursday to rehabilitate 78 Tracy Street. Nine apartments are planned for the 6,120 sq.ft. property that neighbors semi-affectionately call “The Barn.” The property has been vacant for years.
Backus is planning exterior masonry and wood shingle repairs, new walkways, a restored entrance canopy, roof replacement, and new doors and windows according to the Preservation Board agenda. The site is within the West Village Historic Preservation District. Backus is working with Preservation Studios to obtain historic preservation tax credits for the project.
Backus’ AMB Real Estate Holdings LLC purchased the property on November 11 for $100,000 and purchased half of an adjacent vacant lot in December for $22,000 where five off-street parking spaces are planned.
