As many foodies talked about whether or not O3 Café was going to reopen on Elmwood Avenue, another regional restaurateur set its eyes on the location and has announced its intentions to open in the contemporary dining space. Serene Gardens from Grand Island recently posted a sign on the turnkey restaurant that it would be moving forward with “fresh and locally sourced ingredients with a modern Japanese twist, with dishes ranging from Ramen and sushi to Japanese curry and Wagyu steak.”
A number of people that I talked to expressed sincere disappointment when O3 closed its doors after a short run on the street. Hopefully those same people will be open to Sato, which will also have plenty of healthy options. And what’s not to like about Ramen? It’s one of the culinary items in short supply in the Elmwood Village.
For anyone not familiar with Serene Gardens, it’s a hybrid Japanese restaurant meets garden landscape center – what a combo! The restaurant portion of the business should fit in effortlessly with the layout of the building… it almost looks like a Japanese restaurant already. Of course there are a couple of other Japanese restaurants in close proximity, but it appears as if there will be plenty of unique culinary nuances presented upon Sato’s opening as early as January. If you take one look at the operator’s credentials (for example), the family has an in-depth handle on all facets of Japanese culture that is beyond impressive. Those attributes should help to create a well-rounded Japanese experience for all who visit.
