By Kevin Arnold:
Dear friends and neighbors,
I’d like to let you know about a new community organization in North Buffalo and invite you to our first official meeting on Friday, January 3rd.
NorthBuffalo.org is a grassroots organization made up of residents, local businesses, block clubs and other affiliated groups in North Buffalo. Our goal is to foster improvements in this urban neighborhood and to provide a platform for citizens to express their views and accomplish the projects they want to see in their community.
From new development to the preservation of landmark buildings, the future of North Buffalo has never looked brighter. We want to ensure that this vibrant and diverse neighborhood retains its historic character and continues developing as a dense and walkable urban area.
NorthBuffalo.org was started by Ryan Sajdak, a resident of North Buffalo who was looking for more opportunities to get involved in his community. Despite being active for only a month, NorthBuffalo.org has garnered a lot of interest online and on Facebook, which we are now looking to translate into action at our first official meeting next week.
We’ve already begun work on a number of projects for 2014 and we need your support to make them happen. At the top of the list is bringing a weekly farmer’s market to North Buffalo. The project is currently in the planning phase and we are eager to hear your feedback. If you’d like to have a farmer’s market in North Buffalo next year, please fill out our brief online survey to let us know what you’d like to see.
Other projects NorthBuffalo.org is looking to tackle include a neighborhood-wide cleanup event this spring and collaborating with community art organizations to create one or more public art installations along Hertel Avenue. We need volunteers to accomplish these projects and we also welcome your ideas and input on what we can do to make North Buffalo an even better place to live.
NorthBuffalo.org’s inaugural meeting will be held on Friday, January 3rd at 7:30pm at Allegro Cafe on Hertel. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the organization or getting involved is welcome to attend.
We hope to see you there!
