When I was a kid I thought burning holes through my mini trampoline with a magnifying glass was a good idea. I thought doing flips off a park swing was a good idea. I thought eating my Fruit Loops with orange juice was a good idea.
I had a lot of bad ideas. But I also had adults in my life who were there when I went too far. Like bumpers in a bowling lane.
Kids need a positive role model in their lives, a caring adult to help them learn when something is not a good idea. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County is taking this issue on like a boss by giving kids a Big Brother or Big Sister who is there for them.
This year some young professionals in Buffalo decided to help them. And they’re calling for your support.
The Buffalo Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) is a networking and community service group. They do things that younger professionals like to do (volunteer) in ways that younger professionals like to do it (socially).
This year, the Jaycees holiday party is benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County. Sponsors throughout the community have chipped in with gift baskets for a live raffle, including Arthur Moats of the Bills.
This party is open to the community and you are encouraged to attend.
Joining the Jaycees and their friends for fun and charity is a good idea.
