BRO Holiday Shopping Guide: The Wisteria Shop

If you live in Buffalo, then you’re familiar with the Darwin D. Martin House. But are you also aware that there is an incredible gift shop inside the architectural beauty? Take a trip to the Wisteria Shop and you will find architecturally significant presents for all of your loved ones. Chances are that you will also find an item or two for yourself as well. Regardless, a visit to the building is enough to inspire anyone to get into the holiday spirit.

This year I found a couple of items that I picked out for the BRO Gift Guide. First off, The Tree of Life Umbrella can be purchased for $35, or is given as a gift from the Martin House Complex with a membership of $100 or more. The umbrella is designed after one of the most significant stained glass windows at the complex.

Next up is this handsome pen and case that has an unusual story behind the set. The pen was milled from an apple tree that was formerly on the property by a Roycroft artisan named Howard Miller. $40 for the pen – $50 with the case. This is a completely unique gift that goes hand-in-hand with Buffalo’s history and its future.

From books and cards to ties and scarves, the Wisteria Shop is full of out of the ordinary merchandise displayed in an easy-to-browse showroom. This is a must for Buffalo, history and architecture lovers!

New members receive a 20% discount on purchases the day they join and 10% on purchases for the balance of the year. Please see the website for a complete list of member levels and benefits.

After you visit the Darwin D. Martin House, be sure to grab a cup of coffee and some lunch at S7 Café on Parkside Avenue, just around the corner. The place is super comfy and is a real treasure to have in the city.
