BRO Holiday Gift Guide: Main Hand Wash & Detail

I admit it. My car is usually a mess. Not because I throw garbage everywhere, but because I have a huge dog that sheds all over the place. I usually don’t take the time to clean the inside of the car, and rarely take it to get a car wash. Recently I picked up my dad to take him somewhere and he chided me for the utterly dirty condition that the vehicle was in. “You have to take that over to Ivory to see what he can do with it,” my Dad told me. “This is a job for Ivory,” he repeated to himself.

After making me feel as if my ride was a deplorable mess, I decided to take my car to Ivory L. Bouyer who is the owner of Main Hand Wash and Detail (MHWD), located at 1712 Main Street. I dropped off the car this morning and it was ready for pick-up at 3:30pm, which I felt was fairly quick considering that when Ivory first looked at the interior of the 4×4 he shook his head and told me that he would do what he could. And what he did was no less than a miracle. When I picked up the vehicle it looked almost brand new even though it’s over a decade old. In my case, I paid a bit more to get a problem righted. Each car is different, and it’s best to discuss the detailing plan of action with Ivory so that everyone is on the same page.

Now for a regular wash you can just stop in, or if you require cleaning and detailing (as I did) you can call and make an appointment. Either way, you are guaranteed to get one of the finest automotive hand washes in the city, if not the best. Ivory’s team works on each car as if it was their own. That’s because the business’s best form of marketing is word of mouth – a satisfied customer is a return customer. The prices at MHWD are also fair too, especially if you don’t wait five years to get your first detail job. When you consider that this is a special treat for your car, this custom buff and shine operation is well worth every cent.

This holiday season, consider giving the gift of a sparkling car (in and out) to a loved one. They will love you right back, and so will the car after the day is through. Gift certificates are available.

While you’re waiting for your ride to get detailed, or after you get your car hand washed, don’t forget that Record Theater is just down the street at the corner of Lafayette and Main (see here). The giant record store is still a mainstay for music lovers in the city.
