Buffalo blogger Mark Weber (Beautiful Buffalo), has passed along information that NY’s last graffiti mecca has been whitewashed overnight in preparation for a high rise to be built. It’s funny to think that as Buffalo has finally begun to embrace graffiti, Five Pointz, featuring the work of over 1500 graffiti artists from all around the world, is finally gone. There were grassroots attempts made to save the Queens NY arts destination, to no avail. And while many hoped that the support of a massive number of graffiti artists and fans of the medium would be enough to keep the dream alive, it was only a matter of time before this day arrived, and everyone knew it. Some of Buffalo’s own graffiti artists got together one year ago to produce a video in support of Five Points that we featured earlier this year.
