Yesterday, CBS reported that Jersey rock star John Bon Jovi was interested in buying the Buffalo Bills. Now, we’ve all seen previous reports of people allegedly interested in buying the Bills once Ralph Wilson estate takes over and looks for a buyer. Two years ago, billionaire bond investor – and native Buffalonian – Jeffrey Gundlach was reported to be an interested suitor for the Bills.
But this Bon Jovi report was stranger in that, well, the notion of John Bon Jovi owning the Bills is strange. But also, there are reports that Bon Jovi is interested in moving the team to Toronto. Today, The Globe and Mail reported that Bon Jovi is working in concert with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment and other wealthy Toronto businesspeople to try to take ownership of the Bills and move them north.
Well, just as quickly as this story burst onto the scene, Bon Jovi is trying to make it go away. Through his publicist, the rocker is now denying he has interest in the Buffalo Bills (though does admit he has interest in becoming a NFL owner).
Don’t put away your Bon Jovi song puns yet, though, as there’s a chance this isn’t the last we’ll hear of a Bon Jovi-led ownership group trying to acquire the Bills.
