The latest in the Visit Buffalo Niagara “For Real” promotional series was recently released on Youtube. Like previous videos in the series this edition was filmed by Paget Films which tells you it is visually gorgeous and will make you proud of your city. The 6.5 minute documentary, focusing on Buffalo’s thriving art scene, opens with an artist using Buffalo’s winter and its towering grain elevators for inspiration. It then quickly walks us through an impressive set of art venues, vibrant street scenes, artist interviews, and glimpses into several Buffalo artist studios as it follows a sample of Buffalo artists through their projects from conception to their show openings. From the You tube site:
From small galleries, like 464 Gallery, to show stoppers like the Albright Knox, Buffalo has a vibrant, first-class art scene. We’ve got big names, local artists, modern and traditional works. No matter what you like, Buffalo’s abundance of galleries is sure to impress.
This film is a very inspiring look at a growing and healthy part of Buffalo’s cultural and economic life. Art and culture are a powerful fuel for the growth and life of a city. Buffalo is not unique in having a vibrant art culture but the major elements of a major center for art seem to be falling into place.
