Chef Edward Forster has thrown his hat into Buffalo’s evolving culinary ring by hosting a series of pop-up restaurant events in some of the most unexpected places. His first foray into the pop-up scene was a dinner hosted down at Silo City.
Up next, Forster is teaming up with the Lloyd Taco Truck gang, this Sunday October 6, where he will be guest chef at an undisclosed location within the Elmwood Village (along Elmwood). Apparently the first 100-150 people to visit the truck will be able to try out a beet themed dish served up by Chef Forster himself, who will be a guest on Lloyd The III (starts at 6pm).
One thing that diners will learn (and taste) this Sunday is that Chef Forster is sourcing all of his ingredients as close to home as possible. Sticking with a pork-based favorite (it is being prepared on a Lloyd operation after all), Forster will incorporate some special surprises from Oles Farm into his dish, along with Leonard Oakes’ apples and cider.
As the pop-up locations change dramatically, and so do the dishes and how they are served. One pop-up restaurant might utilize communal table seating in a non-restaurant location, while another one might feature a re-imagined spin on an already successful restaurant space. Depending on the location, and the time of year, pop-up surprises might come in the form of craft cocktails or decadent desserts prepared to enhance the flavors of the featured cuisine.
Regardless of the circumstance, The Workshop Buffalo is guaranteed to keep people guessing when and where the next culinary event will spring up. One thing is certain – we will certainly know the creative and enterprising chef behind it.
