New Era Cap Opens In West Coast’s Neighborhood

New Era Cap Co’s global expansion continues with a new store near me in Sacramento.  The New Era store in the Roseville Galleria opened October 18.  The Galleria is the Sacramento region’s premier mall with a lineup that includes Nordstrom, Macy’s, Coach, Burberry, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, H&M, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Burberry, Restoration Hardware, and Crate & Barrel.

The Roseville location is a ‘company store’ and joins others in Mesquite, Texas; Rosemont, Illinois; Minnesota’s Mall of America; and Greensboro, NC.  New Era has thirteen flagship stores in hometown Buffalo, two in London, Berlin, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, Toronto, and Birmingham, England.

Sacramento is Niners and Raiders territory but of course the Buffalo-based New Era would have some Bills caps.  Wrong.  There wasn’t one to be found.  In fact, I was the first customer to ask for one according to the friendly and helpful employee working the day I visited.  OK, so it was only the store’s first week.  There has to be other long-suffering Bills fans in northern California, no?

The store is not Buffalo-free however.  I did find a retro-looking ‘New Era Cap – Buffalo New York State’ t-shirt.  There was also a photo collage behind the store register detailing New Era’s history including photographs of the company’s Delaware Avenue headquarters (below).

The employee was surprised I knew about the company’s Buffalo roots.  I asked if he visited Buffalo for training and he said he did not get to go to Buffalo but trained in Mesquite, Texas.   For shame.

It was a surprise to see a piece of Buffalo land in Sacramento.  May La Nova, Duff’s, Spot, Wegmans, and others follow suit.
