An effort is underway to physically join hands in solidarity in order to shed a light on pervasive socio economic issues ranging from race to poverty. At a press conference going on at this very moment in Downtown Buffalo (Niagara Square), activists are detailing the plan that will see a human chain of upwards of 7000 people who will link the city along Ferry Street from the Niagara River to Bailey Avenue.
The cross section of neighborhoods that this human chain traverses contains a slice of this city’s life, from a range of ethnicities to economic stations. Organizers hope to draw national attention and coverage to Buffalo on that day. Following the action, there will be a range of discussions and programs revolving around the topics at hand. Ultimately this linking of hands would serve to help to show a proud and united community, according to the coalition of local organizations sponsoring the event*.
