Fighting Pretty in North Buffalo

Ask anyone and they will tell you that Buffalo is filled with fighters. No matter what the task is at hand, we stand strong in our convictions and are always willing to lend a hand to others. So when Tommy Lombardo from Ristorante Lombardo asked me to spread the word about a drink that he is serving up that helps to fight breast cancer, I willingly obliged. “My friend Kara Skaflestad and I have put together this fundraiser, in the hopes that supporters of the fight against breast cancer come down for a ‘fighting pretty’ cocktail,” said Tommy.  “Essentially I came up with a cocktail named after Kara’s charity (Fighting Pretty) and for the first two weeks of October we are donating the proceeds to her.”

The cocktail:  Spicy Tequila, Watermelon, Lime Juice, Agave Nectar and a citrus salt rim.  Pink, feisty, and delicious!
The charity:  Kara is a 4-year breast cancer survivor that founded a charity aimed at helping women feel beautiful during and after cancer treatment.
“It has been such a pleasure to work with Tommy Lombardo and his restaurant,” said Kara, who is president of Fighting Pretty and 4-year breast cancer survivor. “His idea to create a special pink cocktail for us has not only (helped to) give us the funds we need to support our programs, but has created a celebration for all that we do. Each and every penny goes to creating Pretty Packages containing inspirational items, wigs, make-up, scarves and more to help women feel strong and beautiful.”
Now I know that this is a tough assignment and all (cough, cough), but we’re hoping that BRO readers stop by the restaurant for a tasty cocktail to help out with this inspirational, creative and tasty cause.
