Suneel’s Light Foundation has announced that A Night to Shine charity gala, the Foundation’s annual fundraiser, will “shine brightly upon” downtown Buffalo for the first time, Thursday, October 17th from 5:30 pm – 9 pm at the Hotel @ The Lafayette, 391 Washington Street, Buffalo, NY. The local non-profit foundation has the sole mission of raising funds for research that will lead to a cure of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and to increase public awareness of the genetic disease. A Night to Shine invites the community to spend an evening mingling with celebrity stars from the worlds of science, media, sports, entertainment and politics, while enjoying delectable fare and delicious cocktail as delightful live music fills the ballrooms with light, classical favorites.
A Night to Shine 2013 will make its debut at the Hotel @ The Lafayette’s historic, grand ballrooms after three exceptional years at the Hauptman Woodward Life Science Building on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. The event’s growing popularity has necessitated a move to provide for additional space to comfortably accommodate all of the great supporters and celebrity stars. This year’s gala promises to be the most fantastic one to date and will feature all the great moments that event goers have grown to love from this annual event, while offering this year’s attendees new ones, such as live music by High Horse and amazing themed raffle packages. In addition, the 2013 gala will have even more celebrity guest stars attend than the impressive list that attended in 2012, which featured more than 30 popular local celebrities.
The 2013 A Night to Shine will feature spectacular benefit auctions with items from both the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, as well as numerous items from some of WNY’s favorite restaurants, shops and companies. The event will be brought to a conclusion with a professional auctioneer holding a live auction of fabulously unique auction items. Attendees will also be able to participate in a first-class silent auction and a raffle for themed packages, such as technology, sports and wine, with all proceeds from the entire event going towards finding treatments and a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Tickets for the event are $75 or $135 per couple, and $80 or $140 at the door. Established in 2002, Suneel’s Light is a charitable foundation whose namesake is a teenage boy from Amherst, NY who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The Foundation was established to fund critical research for treatments in search for a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, the most lethal genetic childhood disease, which targets young boys, without regard to ethnicity, and leads to death from respiratory or heart failure by their early 20’s. Without a breakthrough in ongoing medical research and treatment, there is little hope that Suneel and other children like him, will live to adulthood.
