In order to honor those who lost their lives in 9/11, Team RWB Buffalo has organized an unusual run/walk that is designed to have two runners/walkers continually handling two flags (Old Glory and Flag of Honor) as part of a day-long tribute. Today, from 6:33am to 7:11pm, the flags bearing all of the names of those who lost their lives, are making their way around Delaware Park’s Ring Road from sunrise to sunset.
Walkers/runners are invited to participate in the remembrance ceremony… the participants have set up at Agassiz Circle (near the 198/Parkside intersection).
This is not a race. It’s also not mandatory to carry a flag. This is purely being organized as a way to remember a tragic event that continues to haunt us to this day.
www.teamrwb.org – Team Red, White and Blue (Team RWB) was founded in order to help military personnel acclimate back into society by helping to bring them together with civilians and other veterans through exercise. These programs in turn help to create social relationships that will benefit the returning veteran to no end. Today’s “Moving Tribute” Remembrance Run/Walk was designed by those who believe that the power of exercise has the ability to heal the body and the mind.
The flags will stop 6 times for a minute of silence and reflection at:
8:46am – Flight 11 (North Tower)
9:03am – Flight 175 (South Tower)
9:37am – Flight 77 (Pentagon)
9:58am – South Tower collapses
10:03am – Flight 93 (Shanksville)
10:28am – North Tower collapses
