Many of us are aware of the incredible bird-watching opportunities at Time Beach Nature Preserve, but in order to max out the preserve’s full potential, birding enthusiasts should consider a unique outing planned for Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10am.
On that day, Earth Spirit Educational Services (see Facebook) will lead birders around the site in search of both resident and migratory avian species. Our waterfront is a hotbed of activity when it comes to nesting sites and visiting birds, resulting in a wide-range of sighting opportunities that you just won’t find anywhere else. Birds from the the Common Loon to the Tundra Swan make the best of Buffalo’s northerly latitudes, which in turn provides the rest of Buffalo’s nature-lovers with these sorts of unique outings.
If you have never visited Times Beach, then you are in for one inspirational surprise! The boardwalks and the bird-blinds, the juxtaposition of the foliage along the waterfront set against the backdrop of Buffalo’s skyline… it’s an awesome experience that will forever change the way you view your city. Plus, this time of year will allow for watchers to see birds that are not normally calling Buffalo “home”, but are passing through as they migrate for the season.
Advance registration is required and may be done on the Earth Spirit website (http://earthspiritedu.org/events.html), by phone at 716-941-6267 or email (programming@earthspiritedu.org). Fees for this outing are $7.00 for Earth Spirit members and $10.00 for non-members.
