More color has been added to the Allentown mural scene. Over the weekend a couple more walls got added to the roster of canvases created by graffiti and wheatpaste artists. From the gorillas on top of Allentown Hardware to the waves of pink and purple that adorn the front of Chad Jakubowski’s martial arts training center, to the colorful fill-ins of the pre-existing mural on a wall across the street (see background for context).
Even before Mark Goldman set out to paint the town red (and every other color imaginable), as a dedication to his brother Tony (see Tony’s image in one of the works), Buffalo’s recognition for street art was already beginning to make waves… and headlines (see UntappedCities.com). In fact, at any given time I have a backlog of public art features just waiting to be posted on Buffalo Rising.
