By Doug Sitler:
Coup d’état (/ˌkuːdeɪˈtɑː/) is the sudden overthrow of a governing body, usually orchestrated by a small group.
A few short blocks from Buffalo City Hall, artists, designers, and musicians from Buffalo’s progressive art fringe have come together with Only Comrades and the echo Art Fair to throw “Coup d’Etat” this Friday, September 6 at the Waiting Room, 334 Delaware Avenue. The overthrow begins at 9:00 p.m. with admission being $10.
After the success at Youth Contingent, an art show curated by the Buffalo artist collective, Only Comrades, the echo Art Fair partnered with the group to throw the launch party for the fair. The resulting event will include 20 visual artists and 4 projection-based artists being exhibited. Beyond the art show, Only Comrades aesthetic will carry into the DJ line up and the dance party sure to take place.
Buffalo’s own Art Basel, the echo Art Fair is a juried fine art exposition. The fair aims to connect experienced collectors and first-time buyers with established and emerging local, regional and international artists in a centralized and creative environment. In its third installment, echo Art Fair will be held in the Central Library, downtown Buffalo, on September 7 and 8.
Only Comrades is a Buffalo based group of artists and designers who work on a series of projects and events meant to promote and support meaningful art and artists.
