The City of Buffalo recently completed a comprehensive repaving and repair project on Humboldt Parkway from Main Street to Humboldt Park. All of Humboldt was milled and repaved, with the addition of bike lanes, which effectively connect Delaware Park directly to Humboldt Park. In addition the Department of Public Works replaced damaged sidewalks, curbs, and curb cuts through the entire length of the street. The bike lanes are a welcome addition to the neighborhood and drivers are already beginning to slow down rather than race through the neighborhood.
As part of Mayor Brown’s vision to have Buffalo designated a Platinum level city more bicycle infrastructure like the new lanes on Humboldt Parkway and Delaware Avenue will continue to crop up around the city as paving projects continue. I know I speak for a lot of other people in my excitement and appreciation of this effort. The dialog between GO Bike Buffalo, the mayor’s office, the Department of Public Works, and many others continues to improve and bring us more bike lanes across the city.
