This evening the Allentown Association is celebrating its 50th year in action, and is inviting the public to come and celebrate the milestone. An art exhibit has been created that showcases Allentown at its finest, boasting a range of artists (Rita Argen Auerback, Paul Colluci, Paul Alico, Patrick Willett, Ann Palmer, Michael Mulley, Mary Ellen Bossert, Kath Schifano, Peggy Walker, Sara Beth Newton, Michelle Schroeder,Margaret Martin, Duane Lyman…) and their creations in a variety of mediums including oils, watercolors, charcoal prints, photographs, historic architectural plans, custom furniture… all on display at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site.
641 Delaware Avenue between Allen and North Streets, with an opening wine and hors d’oeuvres reception on First Friday, August 2 from 6:00 to 9:00pm.
*The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibit will remain on view Saturday and Sunday August 3 and 4 from Noon to 5:00pm. There is no admission charge.
Adding to the excitement, the always popular Allentown First Fridays Gallery Walk will be underway, with a festival style street frenzy between Delaware and Franklin (Artists and Cyclists). There will be a self-guided Allentown museum walk, a music performance by the 12/8 Path Band, and dance performances with b-boy/girl tips by Verve… and don’t miss out on the street chalk art, hula hooping, and DIY sidewalk vendors! It’s all tonight in Allentown, so bring your bike or skateboard and come on down and join in on the celebratory activities designed to create an amped-up, all-inclusive, artist driven, bike-friendly scene in Allentown.
