It’s only natural that, after sprucing up a park, the neighborhood association behind the effort would want to have a celebration to commemorate the effort (and the park). Sisti Park has never looked better, and thanks to the hard work of the Linwood Preservation District & Friends – a group that planted 950 square feet of flower beds and planted three flowering crabapple trees – there is plenty of reason to celebrate.
Now that the park has been given some room to breath by The City (see here), and the neighborhood has added its own aesthetic touches, the plan is to host a party on July 27, 2013 (Garden Walk Weekend) featuring live music from the Hutchinson Technical High School-trained ensemble Six String Circus and the three-man Buffalo Boys (two guitars and a bass, playing familiar classics from the Great American Songbook, a repertoire continued by the lovely voice of soprano Danielle DiStefano).
The inspirational gathering will take place from 7-9:30pm (corner of Franklin and North), and will include food trucks, dancing, and candlelit luminaria that will be lit up the length of Linwood Avenue. Neighborhood businesses, and church and gallery will also be open for visitors to explore.
*Prizes of $50 gift cards will be awarded to the top three luminaria-decorated homes. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in Ascension Church. Parking will be available in the parking lots of the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site, 643 Delaware (enter from Delaware) and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1080 Main (enter from Main). Franklin Street will be closed from Allen to North, as well as North Street from Main to Delaware beginning at 6:30 p.m.
