Back in May I wrote an article on the possibility of organizing a Porchfest in Buffalo. Well, as luck would have it, the Elmwood Village Association (EVA) is carrying the torch and will be hosting a meeting in hopes to attract interested parties to see the project to fruition. On Thursday, July 25th, 2013 at 5:30pm, EVA’s Neighborhoods Committee will be hosting a brainstorming meeting at Ashker’s on Elmwood Avenue. Anyone interested in helping to get the concept off the ground can RSVP to Ashley@elmwoodvillage.org.
To learn more about Porchfest, click on this link. This is the perfect neighborhood event concept for a city like Buffalo. Just think of all of the marvelous porches along our streets. And all of the musicians that could bring the porches to life. Like the Garden Walk, a Buffalo version of Porchfest (with a new name and identity of course) could eventually rival the success of some of the biggest festivals in the area, while helping to bring the community together to enjoy live music, grilling, and maybe even a refreshing mojito or two!
The following is a description of the event, as seen on the Somerville porchfest website:
