A new pedestrian pier is being built out at the Outer Harbor currently. Situated at the intersection of Fuhrmann Boulevard and Tifft Street, the pier has an impressive sweeping design that looks like nothing else that we’ve seen to date. I spoke to one of the crew workers who told me that at the end of the pier there will be a floating dock that will accommodate small water crafts. The dock will have the capabilities of rising and lowering with the waters.
There will be a covered pavilion built as an add-on to the pier build-out. This pier serves as a functional waypoint of interest for people as they trek from Union Ship Canal Commons to Wilkeson Pointe. The infrastructure being added around the pier includes cobble areas, plantings, boardwalks, pedestrian bridges and bike paths.
