For anyone not aware of the concept known as IN, the social gathering industry event series, hosted by Feed Your Soul’s Christa Glennie Seychew, takes place on Monday at Sea Bar twice a month. IN (FB) was dreamed up as a way for food-lovers to interact with the culinary movers and cocktail shakers of the restaurant industry, and is normally free and open to the public.
On July 1, the regularly scheduled programming of IN will be interrupted for one special evening. On that particular event, there will be a $5 cover charge in order to raise funds for a young Buffalo chef by the name of Daniel Tracy who is suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease. Dan was a diagnosed with the disease several years ago, and since that time has become an inspiration for others by founding The Iron Event – an event that raises money and awareness for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (see Facebook).
“As many people know, when chef Mike Andrzejewski was injured in a severe motorcycle accident a few years ago, the restaurant community rallied and raised funds for him,” said Christa. “Because of that, I think he will always feel that helping other chefs who are seriously suffering is part of his duty. Few people who choose cooking as a career path have safety nets, retirement plans, or other traditional benefits. Sometimes it’s necessary for the community to come together and make a difficult situation better for one of their own.
“IN has been very successful in furthering the restaurant community–we’ve seen great ideas hatched, jobs earned and given, and projects developed as a result of this twice-monthly gathering. Plus it’s a ton of fun! I can’t think of any better way to show our respect for chef Dan Tracy than to dedicate a unique and interesting food experience to him, his efforts, and his years in the trenches.”
In true IN fashion, the event will be one of great fan fare, with a special ingredient added to the mix this Monday. Guests will be treated to a flavor tripping experience of the highest order. Attendees will be handed an mberry (Miracle Berry) pill at the door… “a more concentrated and reliable source for flavor tripping than the actual berries themselves.” The natural mberry temporarily throws your taste buds for a loop, so that they begin to confuse the simplest flavors (sour foods suddenly seem sweet). That in itself will prove to be very fruitful, especially where the taste buds are concerned. Plus, all of the funds raised at the door and the bar will go directly to Dan, in order to help him (as he has helped so many others).
Come experience great food and cocktails, alongside the faces of Buffalo’s restaurant scene. Samples given on a first come first serve basis. 21 and over.
