Are you a fan of Buffalo history? Do you find yourself attending trivia events whenever you come across them? Or the occasional scavenger hunt? If you’ve been looking for something a bit more permanent… something that’s not a flash in the pan, then you should know about “Whatta Y’know? Buffalo History Hunt”. The group behind the history hunt started the event as a way to raise funds for a friend who needed help with medical bills. The upcoming hunt on June 9, 2013 benefits a teacher in need. By offering an interactive competition, where teams battle it out on the streets of Buffalo, following clues that will lead them to various destinations, the end goal of ‘raising money for a good cause’ appeared to be a no-brainer. Thus was born “Whatta Y’know? Buffalo History Hunt”.
After solving the answers to 20 clues that will lead teams to myriad sites, there will be an after-party at Central Park Grill – with food, drinks and live music. Teams are made up of 2-4 people, and each team member is asked to contribute $30 to the cause (see Facebook for more details). On June, 9, teams will meet at Burgard High School, 400 Kensington Avenue in Buffalo – the hunt starts at 10am. Entries for the History Hunt must be received by June 1.
These types of scavenger hunts are great ways to learn about the city, and a fun way to meet new friends.
