It’s just about time to Party on the Portico

For the eighth year in the row, the Buffalo History Museum will be hosting a one-Friday-a-month concert series out on a portico overlooking Mirror Lake and the Japanese Gardens in Delaware Park. It’s one of the most intimate and exquisite views around, enhanced only by the premier sounds of some of the area’s best musicians. Party on the Portico is also one of the most happening summer happy hour spots, where friends convene to chillax, have a cocktail and enjoy the fantastic scenery of the park-scape. Fridays have never been the same since this summer music series first launched.
This year, the series has managed to attract the likes of “Lowest of the  Low” front man Ron Hawkins… a show that is not to be missed!!!
Band line-up schedule:

June 21 – After Hours (“Nouveau Lounge” renditions of songs from musical visionaries)
After Hours plays from Cabaret to Classic Country music reviving seldom heard hits from the 30s to the 90s for the discerning music lover.
The David Kane Quartet (Progressive and R&B mix of originals) An extraordinary artist, David Kane is a compelling composer, musician, and bandleader performing original music for over 30 years.

July 19 – Doug Yeomans and Lo Blu Flame  (Americana, R&B, Blues, and Bluegrass) & The Informers (Popular 60s cover Rock, Americana, Folk)
Doug Yeomans has received awards including the North American Rock Guitar Champion 2001 and the Best Blues Guitarist 2001 and 2003 from the Buffalo Music Awards. He will play in both bands
August 16 – Ron Hawkins – Toronto’s “Lowest of the Low” (Canada’s legendary indie band) and “Rusty Nails” front man performs solo.
Hawkins was voted Songwriter of the year by Now magazine’s reader’s poll and the “Lowest of the Low” reunited for a series of shows. He is the recipient of the Edge 102.1’s “Lifetime Achievement Award.”
Admission for each Party on the Portico event is $10 for the general public and $5 for Museum members. The series runs rain or shine and is exclusively for guests ages 21 and over.  5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. At each Party on the Portico, guests enjoy live music, party snacks, cash bar (wine/beer $4, water/soft drinks, $1), free 15-minute mini-tours of the History Museum, 50/ 50 split drawing.

Tickets are available in advance at the Museum during open hours. All proceeds benefit The Buffalo History Museum. For more information, the public may call (716) 873-9644 or visit www.buffalohistory.org
