Groundbreaking held for $640,000 Ice Cream Stand & Clam Bar

The Erie Basin Marina is making a big splash this summer. There was a groundbreaking for the new $640,000 Ice Cream Stand & Clam Bar yesterday, which is located at The Hatch Restaurant. Besides the new Ice Cream Stand & Clam Bar, other recent investments at the marina include $1.1 million for a new boardwalk, handicap accessible restrooms and new security gates for boaters.
“My administration continues to make major investments at Erie Basin Marina because we know people want more access to Buffalo’s beautiful waterfront, a premier downtown and regional attraction that’s filled with the potential for even more economic growth,” said Mayor Brown, noting, that with the addition of these new improvements, his administration will have invested $2.9 million at the marina since 2006. “Improvements to the restaurant will enhance the experience of visitors who continue to make Erie Basin Marina one of their favorite summer-time destinations.”
Among other amenities slated for The Hatch, will be a second floor patio, scheduled to open mid-summer. A temporary ice cream shack has been constructed while work is underway. The 2013 Summer Season kicked off on May 1, 2013, and is now open daily from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
