It’s that time again… filmmakers Get Ready for the 48 Hour Film Project.
The 48 Hour Film Project is returning to Buffalo this year from June 21 to 23, 2013. The 48-Hour Film Project gives teams a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and each team has to pick a genre at random. The teams then race against time as well as each other in order to complete the writing, filming, and editing of their film in exactly 48 hours.
On June 21, registered teams will gather to hear the parameters that must be included in their film to qualify for prizes and the chance to have their film screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The completed films will screen at The Market Arcade Theater on June 26 and 27.
Registration is open for teams to sign up to compete. New applicants are always welcome – register here.
“Every year the teams’ local talent and creativity within the work is truly incredible,” said Buffalo City Producer, J Garrett Vorreuter. “If you’re looking to get involved with a unique, fun and exciting project to kick off your summer this is it! We’re hoping this year with the earlier (June) kick-off dates we will be able to entice the local film community to push their creative limits without dealing with the previous year’s August heat. I encourage interested candidates to join a team or form a team. Participating in a project such as the 48 Hour brings out a sense of camaraderie within the film & acting community.”
The Buffalo 48 Hour Film Project also hosts an annual open audition, which offers actors/actresses in the area the opportunity to audition for roles available in over 20 local independent productions during the weekend of June 21/23.
This will be the third annual 48 Hour Film Project open audition, which will take place Saturday June 15, 2013 from noon until 4pm at the Pierce-Arrow Cyclorama Studio, located at 1685 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo NY. The open audition is a Free Event. All actors/actresses are equally welcome – from first time actors/actresses to the most seasoned vets. Actors and actresses will be seen on a first come basis.
Last but not least, this year’s “Best of” Screening & Awards Show will be held July 17 at Helium Comedy Club (FB). If you haven’t had a chance to check out Helium yet, this will be a great opportunity. Join the teams before the screening to mingle and talk with the filmmakers in the restaurant section of Helium, called Elements. While watching the films, food and drink service will be available to the attendees at their seats! Tickets will be available to purchase online directly through Helium’s website, or you can purchase at the door. Tickets for the event are $10.
